Window Repair in Jacksonville, FL

Sliding and single-hung windows that stick, won't stay up, or won't lock โ€” repaired with the right balances, rollers, and hardware.

Windows and sliding doors use many of the same types of moving hardware: rollers, balances, locks, latches, weather seals, and insulated glass. When a window becomes difficult to open, refuses to stay up, will not lock, or fogs between the panes, the complete window may not need to be replaced.

Delta Sliding Doors repairs common sliding and single-hung window problems throughout Jacksonville and Northeast Florida.

Windows that are hard to slide

Sliding windows can become rough because of worn rollers, debris in the track, frame distortion, or damaged hardware. A window that only binds at one point may have a different problem from one that is uniformly heavy across the entire opening.

We clean and inspect the running surfaces, check the sash position, and identify the roller or guide system before recommending replacement parts.

Windows that will not stay up

Single-hung and double-hung windows use balance systems to counter the weight of the sash. When a balance fails, the sash may drift down, slam shut, sit crooked, or become difficult to raise.

Balance systems come in different types and capacities. The correct replacement depends on the window design, sash size, and original hardware. We identify the system rather than installing a generic balance based on length alone.

Window locks and latches

A lock that no longer catches can be a hardware problem or an alignment problem. If the sash is sitting incorrectly, a new lock may not solve the issue.

We check the sash position, keeper alignment, lock dimensions, and surrounding frame before replacing parts.

Foggy window glass

Condensation that is trapped between panes usually indicates a failed insulated glass seal. That cannot be wiped away from inside the room.

When the frame and sash are serviceable, the insulated glass unit may be replaceable without replacing the complete window. Glass construction, thickness, dimensions, and glazing method all matter.

Our sliding glass door glass replacement work follows the same principle: identify the glazing system before ordering the replacement.

Weatherstripping and drafts

Worn or missing weatherstripping can contribute to drafts, rattling, and poor contact between the sash and frame. Replacing a seal can help when the surrounding frame is sound and the sash is aligned correctly.

Weatherstripping is not a cure for a frame that has shifted or a sash that is being held out of position by failed hardware.

Coastal conditions

Salt, moisture, and wind-blown debris can affect window hardware in Jacksonville Beach, Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, and other coastal communities.

Rollers, screws, locks, and exposed metal can corrode. Tracks and channels can also collect sand. Keeping those areas clean helps, but failed hardware still needs to be identified and replaced correctly.

Repair versus replacement

Window replacement makes sense when the complete frame, sash, or opening is no longer a practical repair or when the homeowner wants a major performance upgrade.

Repair makes sense when the problem is concentrated in serviceable hardware, balances, locks, weatherstripping, or replaceable glass.

We prefer to identify the failed component before recommending the larger project.

What we inspect

Depending on the complaint, we may check:

  • sash movement and alignment;
  • sliding-window rollers or guides;
  • balance hardware;
  • locks and keepers;
  • weatherstripping;
  • frame condition;
  • insulated glass;
  • drainage paths;
  • evidence of corrosion or previous repair.

Frequently asked questions

Do you repair both windows and sliding doors?

Yes. Delta's primary specialty is sliding-door systems, and we also repair common sliding and single-hung window hardware because many of the mechanisms overlap.

Why will my window not stay open?

A failed or incorrect balance system is a common cause. The sash and balance need to be inspected to identify the correct repair.

Can foggy window glass be replaced?

Often, yes, if the sash and frame are serviceable and a compatible insulated glass unit can be produced.

Can you repair a window lock?

Yes, when compatible hardware is available and the sash/frame alignment is correct.

Do you provide free estimates?

Yes. We provide a free on-site estimate before work begins.
